Vallejo, California, the birthplace of the careers of Bay Area legends Mac Dre and E-40, has become home to a new generation of game-changing MCs, including Moe Green. Born Gregory A. Carter II, this young rapper is no stranger to the spotlight. While competing in speech and poetry meets as a child, Moe quickly discovered a raw, natural talent for performing. In fact, he first began writing rhymes in kindergarten with his childhood best friend, E-40’s son, Droop-E. While he caught the bug early, Moe didn’t take his craft seriously until his teenage years. “I didn’t want to look back and say ‘what if’?” he said.

From an early age, Moe learned of the “trapped mind state” held by some locals, one that that makes it difficult for people to take the risk to chase their dreams. In an effort to avoid the “trapped mind state” adopted by many in his city, Moe strives to break the status quo every day to show Vallejo that anything is possible. As an artist he prides himself on the honesty in his music, because it’s therapeutic. “I have always been dealing with the feeling of not being heard so I figure this would be a way to tell my story,” he says. “I always felt I was put here to do something great and this could or could not be it but right now this is where life has been steering me for the past 10 years.”

With his latest project, GREEN, Moe takes an even more transparent approach, opening up to the people he holds closest. He reenlisted the assistance of the producers he started his career with, in an effort to celebrate their collective growth.  After being featured on MTV 2 and in XXL Magazine, Moe Green is looking to take things to the next level. He hopes to accomplish that with GREEN.

The young recording artist who once had fears of not being accepted is now in his own lane in today’s competitive hip-hop arena. He is the people’s MC – someone his listeners can relate to not only on a hip-hop level, but on a personal level as well. Today, Moe Green has already begun to put a new stamp on the face of Vallejo hip-hop. This is only the beginning.
